Asamoah formed Ashanti United Football Club. The team later became Kumasi Titanics in 1931 and Mighty Atoms in 1934 before adopting the name Asante Kotoko in 1935.The name Kotoko, meaning porcupine, was adopted with the permission of the Asantehene, reflecting the symbol's importance to the Ashanti people.Kotoko have won a record 24 Ghana Premier League titles and lifted the CAF Champions League twice.The Kumasi-based club have also enjoyed significant recognition on the continent, having been named Africa's Club of the Century by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS).As the club enters its 92nd year, the anniversary celebration comes as Kotoko prepare for another season with Tinkler leading the technical team.
