Tshepisong power restored as City Power probes Hillbrow outage
City Power confirms Tshepisong Line A is back on, while teams investigate separate outages in Berea, Hillbrow and Jeppestown.
City Power confirmed the restoration of electricity to Tshepisong Line A on Sunday afternoon while its teams investigated separate outages affecting Berea, Hillbrow and Jeppestown.
In an update posted at 16:28 on 4 October, the Johannesburg utility said supply to Tshepisong Line A was fully restored after an over-current outage reported on Saturday. It did not give the exact time electricity returned.
A separate inner-city bulletin, issued at 16:40, said a team was on site at Fort Substation investigating an outage affecting customers in Berea and Hillbrow. That interruption was reported on Sunday.
City Power also confirmed an unplanned interruption in Jeppestown, reported the same day. The team had been informed and was to investigate its cause. The bulletin did not provide restoration times for either outage.
The InnerCity Service Delivery Centre had 814 open calls, including 750 logged in the previous 24 hours. These figures refer to calls, rather than a count of households without power.
Elsewhere in the district, the bulletin reported partial restoration to customers supplied by Cydna Substation in Houghton Estate, Norwood, Oaklands, Killarney and Orchards. Test-branch assistance was still required to locate the fault affecting three remaining load centres before repairs could proceed.
City Power urged customers to reduce electricity consumption to avoid overloading its constrained network. It advised people experiencing isolated faults to log them at citypower.mobi or call 011 490 7484.
Updates and escalations for logged calls are available on 0800 003 156, which operates daily from 06:00 to 18:00.
