ANSIEC Not Aware Of YPP Boycott Of LG Poll

Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission ( ANSIEC) has said it is not aware of the reported boycott of the candidate of the Young Democratic Party (YPP) in last Saturday’s local government election in Anambra East local government area.

This is coming as the electoral body declears all the candidates of the All Progressives Grand Alliance APGA winners of the both the Chairmanship and Councillorship elections .

Recall that the candidate of YPP Mr Sunday Nnabuife had boycotted the election on the grounds of violence and irregardless during the voting process.

According to the Chairman of ANSIEC Mrs Genevieve Osakwe the candidate of YPP scored 1,658 votes while the APGA candidates scored 50,169 to emerge as winner

According to Osakwe, all the candidates of APGA have been officially declared winners as Councilors and Executive Council Chairmen-elects.

“The elections took place across 362 electoral wards and 21 local government areas (LGAs) in Anambra State and it was conducted in a peaceful, free, fair, transparent and credible manner in line with the state electoral laws and guidelines”

The ANSIEC chairman appreciated the people of the State for having confidence on the Commission during the voting process.

She also commended the security agencies and the media for their immense support before, during and after electoral exercise.

In his brief reaction on behalf of other elected Mayors, the newly elected chairman of Ayamelum local government area, Hon Emmanuel Igwebuike, commended the State governor, Chukwuma Charles Soludo, the Commission, the security agencies and the media for enduring a conducive environment during the election.

He promised to support the governor’s vision of making Anambra a livable and prosperous state in Nigeria by 2070.
