Umahi Inspects Carter Bridge, Construction Zone in Lagos-Calabar Highway
The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, on Thursday inspected the ongoing construction of the new Carter Bridge in Lagos.
Umahi, who was accompanied by directors and senior officials of the Ministry of Works, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olufemi Dare, and representatives of the contractor, assessed the progress of work at the project site.
The minister engaged the site engineers on the progress of construction, seeking updates on the various activities and technical processes being used on the project.
Umahi stressed the need for strict compliance with construction standards to ensure that the bridge was delivered according to the required quality and specifications.
He also urged motorists using the area to exercise caution and drive safely, particularly around the construction zone, as work continued on the strategic infrastructure project.
The minister later proceeded to the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway to inspect the level of work on some sections of the project.
He also assessed some areas and sections of the road that had been vandalised by hoodlums.
Umahi inspected the affected sections and received updates on the condition of the road and ongoing construction activities.
The inspection was part of efforts to monitor the progress of the Federal Government’s major road infrastructure projects in Lagos.
