Mariga’s Chaotic Arrival In Meru: Tear Gas Disrupts Crucial FKF Meeting As Federation Reacts

Tension gripped Three Steers Hotel in Meru after Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Vice President McDonald Mariga made a dramatic arrival accompanied by officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit (RDU).

The unexpected development disrupted a special general meeting that had been convened to deliberate on charges facing Mariga, turning what was expected to be an important football administration gathering into a tense confrontation.

According to reports, the officers allegedly fired tear gas during the incident, forcing the meeting into disarray and interrupting the proceedings. The circumstances surrounding the deployment of the security officers have since raised questions about the events leading to the disruption.

Mariga’s arrival attracted considerable attention, particularly because the meeting was expected to address issues concerning his position and the allegations brought against him.

The incident also prompted a strong reaction from Football Kenya Federation, which condemned what it described as interference with the meeting. The federation’s response has added another dimension to the growing disagreement surrounding the matter.

The developments in Meru come at a time when football administration and leadership issues continue to attract public attention, with stakeholders expecting accountability and transparent decision-making within the sport.

The disruption has also sparked conversations among football supporters, with questions emerging over whether security officers should have been involved in a meeting dealing with internal federation matters.

Attention now turns to the next steps by FKF and the relevant authorities as the situation unfolds. Many will be watching closely to establish whether the meeting will resume and how the charges against Mariga will eventually be handled.
