The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has taken delivery of 45 military utility vehicles under the government’s retooling programme to improve troop mobility and strengthen operational readiness.
The vehicles were received on Friday, October 16, 2026, as part of efforts to equip the military to effectively carry out its constitutional mandate.
According to a post by the Ghana Armed Forces, the fleet comprises 15 KIA utility vehicles, 15 four-by-four vehicles and 15 six-by-six Troop Carrying Vehicles (TCVs).
The vehicles are expected to improve troop transportation, facilitate movement across difficult terrain and enhance the military’s ability to respond swiftly to operational demands.
The acquisition forms part of the government’s broader efforts to modernise the Armed Forces, strengthen national security and improve the country’s capacity to protect its territorial integrity.
The latest delivery follows other equipment acquisitions by the security services this year.
The Ghana Navy commissioned the Ghana Navy Ship (GNS) PRU on February 10, 2026, while the Ghana Air Force received an Airbus H175 helicopter from France on March 5, 2026.
The developments form part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the operational capabilities of Ghana’s security forces.
