KATAVI: KATAVI residents will receive education on land laws, access to land services and guidance on resolving disputes during the Mwana Katavi Week celebrations scheduled for October 25 to 31 at Mizengo Pinda Kabungu grounds in Tanganyika District.
Assistant Land Commissioner for Katavi Region, Mr Chediel Mrutu, said the celebrations will provide an opportunity for residents to understand their rights and responsibilities under land laws and learn how to access services offered by land offices.
Speaking in an interview at his office yesterday, Mr Mrutu said the education will cover landuse planning, surveying, land titling, registration of land titles and other landrelated documents.
He said residents will also learn the procedures to follow when seeking various land services. Mr Mrutu said a land clinic will be organised to assist residents facing land disputes by providing guidance on appropriate ways to resolve their cases.
He explained that, in the first instance, residents will receive guidance on resolving disputes through administrative channels, while cases requiring further legal action will be referred to the appropriate land tribunals.

Mr Mrutu added that the week-long celebrations will also provide an opportunity for residents to register various landrelated deeds and documents.
