Mubiru masterclass steers Azam to comprehensive 4-0 victory over Mbeya City

Ugandan international sensationHassan Mubiru put on a footballing masterclass, netting a brilliant solo goal and turning provider with a breathtaking piece of skill to guide Azam to an emphatic 4-0 demolition of Mbeya City in the Tanzanian Premier League.

The former SC Villa forward, who has enjoyed a seamless transition to life in Tanzania since his high-profile move in August, was the undisputed star of the show. Mubiru doubled Azam’s advantage in spectacular fashion, bewitching the Mbeya City defense by weaving through a “forest of legs” before calmly slotting the ball home.

He saved his best for last, however, deep into stoppage time. In the 90th minute, the Ugandan youngster executed a jaw-dropping rabona assist, perfectly picking out teammate Kipre Zunon, who applied the finishing touch to put the icing on a flawless team performance.

Mubiru’s latest masterclass takes his domestic tally to two goals and three assists in just nine league appearances for the “Ice Cream Makers.” His rapid adaptation has provided a massive boost to Azam’s silverware ambitions on both domestic and continental fronts.

Currently, they are 3rd on the table with 22 points, just three adrift of leaders Simba who have a game in hand but same with Young Africans who are second courtesy of better goal difference.

Continental Ambitions and National Team Snub

Beyond domestic dominance, Mubiru’s imperious form has been instrumental in guiding Azam FC into the lucrative group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup. The Chamazi-based giants have been drawn into a highly competitive Group B, setting up tantalizing, all-Ugandan showdowns against Allan Okello’s AS FAR Rabat (Morocco) and Jamal Salim’s Durban City (South Africa), alongside Libyan powerhouse Al Ahly Tripoli.

Despite performing at the peak of his powers in one of East Africa’s most competitive leagues, Mubiru was conspicuously left out of the Uganda Cranes squad ahead of their upcoming international fixture against Botswana.

If Mubiru continues to produce magic on the pitch like he did against Mbeya City, national team selectors will find it increasingly difficult to look the other way.
