Betty Kyalo and Gen Z Boyfriend Charlie Become Quickmart Investors After Buying Shares
Media personality Betty Kyalo and her Gen Z boyfriend Charlie have made headlines following reports that the couple have bought shares in Quickmart, one of Kenya’s leading supermarket chains.
The development comes at a time when Quickmart is opening its ownership to the public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), giving Kenyans an opportunity to invest in the retail business.
Quickmart launched an offer of two billion existing ordinary shares at KSh7.50 per share, targeting to raise KSh15 billion. The offer represents 50 per cent of the company’s issued share capital and is expected to pave the way for its listing on the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE).
Quickmart operates dozens of outlets across Kenya and has grown into one of the country’s largest supermarket chains, competing with retailers such as Naivas and Carrefour.
Betty Kyalo, known for her media career and business ventures, frequently attracts public attention alongside Charlie, whose relationship with the media personality has generated interest on social media.
Their reported investment adds a celebrity angle to Quickmart’s share offer, which has created an opportunity for individual investors to participate in the ownership of a major Kenyan retail brand.
The offer is scheduled to close on October 30, 2026, with trading on the NSE expected to begin on November 12, subject to the offer conditions.
