Black Sharks travel to Nigeria for Sand Eagles AFCON qualifier
Ghana’s National Beach Soccer Team, the Black Sharks, have travelled from Accra to Nigeria for the first leg of their 2026 CAF Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tie against the Sand Eagles.The delegation left Ghana at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 8, 2026, after their scheduled 9:00 a.m. flight was delayed. The team had arrived at the airport at 7:00 a.m. to complete the required travel formalities before being told that the Abuja-bound flight would be delayed by nearly five hours.

The Black Sharks are due to travel onwards from Abuja to Kaduna, where they will continue their preparations for Saturdays match.
The 22-member delegation consists of 15 players and seven technical team members. It is being led by the Chairman of the Beach Soccer Committee of the Ghana Football Association.
Ghana will meet the Sand Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, in the opening match of the two-legged qualifier.
The second leg will be played on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at the Keta Beach Soccer Arena (Emancipation Beach).
The team that wins the tie on aggregate will secure qualification for the 2026 Beach Soccer AFCON, which will be hosted by Senegal later this year.
The continental tournament will also determine qualification for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.
