AJ Sarpong Foundation Trains 50 Women in Agogo to Boost Livelihoods
The AJ Sarpong Foundation has trained 50 women in soap production in Agogo, within the Asante Akyem area, in an initiative aimed at expanding economic opportunities and promoting self-reliance among women.
The programme forms part of the foundation’s Skills Training Initiative, which provides participants with practical knowledge they can use to pursue entrepreneurship and create alternative sources of income.
The intervention reflects the social impact efforts of media personality AJ Akuoko-Sarpong, whose foundation focuses on supporting women, children and vulnerable people through community-based empowerment programmes.
By teaching the participants how to produce soap, the organisation aims to help them acquire a skill that could serve as a foundation for small-scale businesses and improve their ability to support their families financially.
The initiative also highlights the importance of vocational training in helping women explore economic opportunities, improve household welfare and contribute to development within their communities.
To extend the programme beyond Agogo, the foundation is calling on corporate organisations, development agencies and individuals to partner with it in delivering similar interventions to other communities.
Support from these stakeholders could help the organisation expand its training activities, reach more beneficiaries and provide practical skills to people seeking opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
The successful participation of 50 women in the Agogo exercise marks a significant step in the foundation’s efforts to translate its empowerment objectives into practical community support.
The AJ Sarpong Foundation hopes that continued collaboration and additional outreach programmes will enable more women and other vulnerable groups to gain useful skills, pursue business opportunities and work towards long-term financial independence.
