Pep Guardiola to Manchester United? Ex-Man City boss has already revealed his stance

Pressure is already mounting on Michael Carrick at Manchester United and Pep Guardiola is currently out of a job.

The 3-2 defeat to Brighton in the Carabao Cup has raised some alarming concerns about Michael Carrick as Manchester United head coach.

Carrick accepted responsibility for the defeat and the terrible performance at Old Trafford, where Brighton broke a record as the first team to win there from 2-0 down in 50 years.

All of a sudden, confidence around Carrick is wavering. Pep Guardiola’s availability probably isn’t doing Carrick any favours.

Would Pep Guardiola take the Manchester United job

United fans have grown a hatred of Guardiola over the last decade because of his success at rivals Manchester City between 2016 and 2026.

In fact, United fans were happy to see Guardiola leaving City this summer, and supporters quickly pointed out that he may be jumping a sinking ship as they await a conclusion of for their 115 charges.

When Ineos were scouring the manager market last season during Carrick’s interim, there were slim pickings and Carrick was the obvious choice.

But even if United fans disliked Guardiola at City, there is no denying he is the only competition to Sir Alex Ferguson in being one of the best managers of all time.

Would Guardiola ever take the United job, though? Going off his 2020 comments, it seems unlikely. Very unlikely.

As quoted by Manchester Evening News, Guardiola said: “After training City I won’t train United. It is like I would never train Madrid. Definitely not.”

When asked again if he would take the United job if there were no other offers on the table, Guardiola doubled down on the stance that he would never manage at Old Trafford.

Well, we can rule that one out.
