Tanzania visits its cement producers in renewed efforts to stabilize its prices

**MBEYA: **CEMENT producers in Tanzania have been urged to refrain from practices that disrupt the market by increasing cement prices contrary to established regulations.

The call was made by the Minister for Industry and Trade, Judith Kapinga, during her visit to Mbeya Cement Factory in Mbeya Region, where she inspected production activities, listened to challenges facing the factory, and identified opportunities within the industrial sector.

Minister Kapinga said the government was closely monitoring the situation and would take appropriate action against any cement producer or factory found engaging in practices that undermine the market.

She also urged manufacturers to ensure adequate cement production and make the product accessible to the public, particularly low-income earners, at stipulated prices through their distribution agents.

During the visit, Minister Kapinga also toured the G&B Mattress Factory and the Tanzania Breweries Limited (TBL) plant. She emphasized that the government would not allow challenges raised by business operators to go unresolved.

She noted that visits to production facilities would continue to provide an important platform for listening to stakeholders’ concerns, identifying available opportunities, and developing strategies to address challenges facing the industrial sector.
