Poco Lee faces assault allegations in UK court

… management urges public restraint

Iweh Pascal Odinaka, Nigerian dancer and singer popularly known as Poco Lee, is facing an assault case in the United Kingdom, with his management urging the public to avoid drawing conclusions while the matter is before the courts.

The Snaresbrook Crown Court in London has confirmed that Poco Lee will appear before the court on assault charges, with the case listed for plea and trial preparation on September 15, 2026.

PUNCH Online reported that the court confirmed the matter following an inquiry into an alleged sexual assault involving the entertainer. However, the specific reason for his arrest has not been publicly disclosed.

In a statement issued on August 25, Poco Lee’s management and legal team said the case was subject to legal proceedings and urged the public and media to exercise restraint.

The team stressed that allegations are not evidence of guilt and said no conclusions should be drawn until the matter has been heard and determined through the appropriate legal process.

It also addressed claims circulating online about “drink spiking”, saying such narratives were unverified and did not form part of the allegations or charges before the court.

The management asked the media and public to desist from introducing details that are not part of the actual case, warning that doing so could fuel misinformation and cause unfair prejudice to all parties involved.

“Every individual is entitled to a fair hearing and to have their matter determined by due process of law, not by public opinion,” the team said.

Grammy Award winner Burna Boy said on his Instagram story that Poco Lee contacted him to inform him about his arrest and that he immediately began reaching out to his contacts in the UK.

Burna Boy, who said he was in the UK, described the situation as distressing and said the matter was under active investigation. Based on the information available to him, he said he believed Poco Lee was innocent and did not commit the alleged offence.

He also said he was working towards securing Poco Lee’s release and was committed to seeing the matter through to its conclusion.

Burna Boy’s comments came as other figures in the entertainment industry also expressed support for Poco Lee amid the ongoing case.

ThankGod Omori Jesam, Nigerian filmmaker and music video director popularly known as TG Omori, also reacted to the development in a post on X, expressing his support for Poco Lee.

“It breaks my heart to hear Poco Lee in this sort of mess. That’s the purest soul I have ever met. The devil really works overtime,” he said.

The case has meanwhile generated significant discussion on social media, with users reacting to the allegations, the management’s statement and the public support from Burna Boy and other entertainment figures.

Poco Lee’s management said it would provide further updates through official channels as appropriate, while asking the public to allow the legal process to take its course.
