Goldwagen brings automotive parts closer to Walvis Bay

WALVIS BAY – Motorists and vehicle repair businesses in Walvis Bay can now access a wider range of automotive parts locally following the opening of a new Pupkewitz Goldwagen branch on Sam Nujoma Avenue last Friday.
The outlet, Goldwagen’s fourth in Namibia, aims to make it easier for motorists and workshops to source parts without having to order from Windhoek and wait for deliveries.
The new branch offers parts for various vehicle brands, including the new BYD range, catering for the needs of private motorists, mechanics and businesses that depend on vehicles for their daily operations.
Goldwagen South Africa chief marketing officer Sybrand Bezuidenhout said the expansion was intended to bring the brand’s products and services closer to customers on the coast.
“Now you can find the parts here and exchange them immediately if you have the wrong part. You don’t need to wait another two days to fix that car, and that’s exactly what the Goldwagen brand is about,” he said.
He said the availability of automotive parts locally could help reduce delays for vehicle owners and repair businesses, particularly when vehicles are needed for work, school transport and other daily activities. Bezuidenhout added that vehicles were more than status symbols, as they played an important role in keeping people connected to their livelihoods and communities.
“We understand that it’s not just a status symbol. It’s a means of getting children to school and people to work, stimulating the economy and supporting the community,” he said.
The company places emphasis on quality assurance, with a team of 15 people in South Africa responsible for testing parts before they are listed and sold.
Bezuidenhout said parts purchased from Goldwagen carry a minimum 12-month guarantee, giving customers assurance when purchasing components for their vehicles.
He said reliable parts were important for maintaining vehicle safety and roadworthiness, adding that the company aimed to support motorists and repair businesses through the availability of quality products.
“If the cars are roadworthy, the roads are safe, and then everybody is happy,” he said.
According to him, the success of the outlet would depend on its ability to meet customer needs and build lasting relationships with motorists and businesses on the coast.
Adding that the Walvis Bay branch forms part of Goldwagen’s continued expansion in Namibia, following the establishment of its Windhoek outlet about seven years ago.
Also speaking at the launch, Pupkewitz Motors managing director Anton Westraadt said the opening reflected the shared commitment of the Pupkewitz Group and Goldwagen to customer service and quality.
“Our values align. We have the same passion for customer service and the same passion for maintaining minimum standards when it comes to quality,” Westraadt said.
The Pupkewitz Group, which has a 101-year history in Namibia, operates across several sectors and says its purpose is to improve lives and build futures.
Westraadt said the group hoped the new outlet would contribute positively to the Walvis Bay community.
Walvis Bay mayor Johannes Shimbilinga welcomed the investment, saying the town’s development as an industrial hub had increased demand for quality automotive parts and dependable services.
He said the new branch would improve access to automotive products for residents and businesses while contributing to local economic activity.
Goldwagen has encouraged its Walvis Bay team to prioritise customers and maintain the service standards associated with the brand.
