Michael Carrick may not be in the Manchester United hotseat for much longer.
Wednesday’s 4-1 defeat against Como may well be the final straw for Carrick at Old Trafford after a very difficult beginning to this season.
Carrick is on the brink at United, and, as you can imagine, there’s already been a slew of rumours regarding which managers could replace Carrick.
Eddie Howe has long-been linked to United, and, once again, his name is circulating again as a potential successor for Carrick after leaving Newcastle over the summer.
Interestingly, Michael Carrick has given his verdict on Howe as a manager, and he’s given him a glowing review as a boss.
Michael Carrick’s verdict on Eddie Howe
Speaking ahead of Manchester United’s game against Newcastle last year, Carrick shared his verdict on Howe.
Intriguingly, Carrick had nothing but good things to say about Howe, stating that he’s a top coach who he has a huge amount of respect for.
“I have a huge amount of respect for Eddie and his staff. I know some of them particularly well. Being from there originally, I have kept a close eye on them. Eddie Howe has done a great job with the success he has brought to the club and the feeling he has created around the whole area. He’s a top man and a top coach,” Carrick said.
Eddie Howe’s last 10 results against Manchester United
Carrick thinks Howe is a top manager, and he proved that last season when winning 2-1 at St James’ Park with 10 men.
Howe outdid Manchester United on that day, and that’s not the first time the Englishman has got the better of the Red Devils either.

Howe, more often than not, in recent years has got the better of United, and now he may get the opportunity to show exactly what he’s made of in the Old Trafford dugout and replace the manager who was speaking so highly of him just six months ago.
