Babil struck with nine minutes remaining in regulation time to settle a tightly contested encounter and propel Medeama back to the top of the league standings, where they are level on points with Hearts of Oak but lead on goal difference.

The Mauve and Yellow went into the Matchday 8 fixture looking to respond after suffering their first defeat of the season, a 2-1 loss to FC Samartex. With the title race beginning to take shape, Medeama were eager to bounce back on home soil and maintain their strong start to the campaign.

However, Aduana FC proved a difficult opponent, with the visitors frustrating the hosts for much of the contest. Despite Medeama’s efforts to break the deadlock, both sides went into the half-time interval goalless.

The game remained finely balanced after the restart, with Medeama continuing to search for the breakthrough against an organised Aduana defence. Just when the contest appeared destined for a draw, Babil emerged as the match-winner, finding the back of the net in the 81st minute to spark celebrations among the home supporters.

The late strike proved decisive, allowing Medeama to secure all three points and make an immediate response to their setback against Samartex.

The victory takes Medeama back to joint-top of the Ghana Premier League standings alongside Hearts of Oak, with their superior goal difference keeping them ahead of the Phobians.
