AI summary
The Central East Regional Police Command has arrested two men in connection with the alleged sexual assault and murder of an 11-year-old girl at Gomoa Buduburam in the Central Region.
The suspects, Kingsley Ozor, 40, an auto body sprayer, and his apprentice, Jeffery Otaigbe, 19, were arrested on October 20, 2026, following investigations into the disappearance of Blessing Innocent.
According to a police statement signed by DSP Victor Kofi Dosoo, Head of Public Affairs of the Central East Regional Police Command, the victim was reported missing by her mother on October 19, two days after she disappeared.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had visited the two suspects, who were her neighbours, at about 8:30 a.m. on October 17, 2026.
Police said the suspects admitted during interrogation that the girl had visited them on the day she disappeared.
Further investigations allegedly revealed that Otaigbe lured the victim into an uncompleted building near an estate community, where he sexually assaulted her before realising she had become lifeless.
Following an alleged confession, the 19-year-old suspect led investigators to a location where the girl’s body had been concealed beneath shrubs.
The body has since been deposited at the St. Gregory Catholic Hospital morgue, pending an autopsy at the Police Hospital to establish the cause of death.
Both suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue.
The police have not disclosed Ozor’s alleged role in the girl’s death beyond confirming that she visited him and his apprentice before her disappearance.
The Central East Regional Police Command has commended the Gomoa Buduburam District Police for apprehending the suspects and assured the public that those responsible would be brought to justice.
