TFG says African operations unaffected by London cyber incident
TFG says several UK IT systems remain unavailable while investigators check whether any personal or sensitive information was compromised.
TFG disclosed a cybersecurity incident at its London business on Tuesday, 13 October, saying its African and Australian operations were unaffected.
In a statement released through the JSE’s SENS service at 07:05 SAST, the retailer said it identified the incident on 11 October. It affected certain IT systems serving Phase Eight, Hobbs and Whistles. Inside Story and White Stuff were not affected, the group said.
TFG London’s stores remained open and trading, although several IT systems were still unavailable. The group said its African and Australian businesses operated on separate systems.
TFG said it had activated its incident-response and business-continuity plans, brought in external cybersecurity specialists and reported the incident to the relevant UK authorities.
Investigators were still establishing whether personal or other sensitive information had been compromised. TFG said affected individuals or organisations would be notified if that was confirmed.
