The road to the Miss World Top 40 has thrown Malawi another curveball, with Ireen Navicha missing a key chance to boost her campaign.
Navicha failed to secure the World Fashion Designer Award for Africa, a setback that could make her battle for a coveted spot among the competition’s Top 40 even tougher.
The award was won by Shreeya Bokhoree, who is representing Mauritius at the global pageant.
Bokhoree emerged as the African winner after showcasing a traditional outfit inspired by the culture and heritage of Mauritius during the “Soul of Heritage” fashion show at the Vietnam Beauty Fashion Fest XVII.
The fashion showcase brought together contestants from across Africa, with each contestant presenting attire designed to highlight the culture and identity of their respective countries.
For Navicha, missing out on the award means Malawi has lost another opportunity to gain recognition through one of the pageant’s challenge platforms as she seeks to secure a place in the Top 40.
However, the competition is not yet over, with Navicha still having further opportunities to advance.
The Top Model Part 2, “The Green World,” is scheduled for August 28, 2026, followed by the Dances of the World/Cultural Showcase on September 2, before the grand final on September 5, 2026.
