The Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence is expected to have an ice bath facility ready by January as part of efforts to improve training and recovery conditions for Ghana’s national football teams.
The centre’s director, Winnifred Mawudeku, said the facility would be the first of its kind at the centre and provide players with better recovery options after training sessions and matches.
Speaking on Sporty FM, Mawudeku said the project was progressing and would be ready to serve players by the start of the new year.

“We’re constructing an ice bathroom, which even Accra Sports Stadium doesn’t have. It’ll be the first of its kind at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. By January, that should be ready for players to have their ice baths,” she said.
The planned facility forms part of efforts to strengthen the centre’s infrastructure and make it a suitable base for preparing Ghana’s national teams.
Mawudeku said the centre already had two natural grass pitches and an artificial turf constructed by FIFA, as well as accommodation and conference facilities.
She added that a gym had been constructed, with equipment expected from FIFA to improve the centre’s training resources.
“We have two natural grass pitches and one astroturf constructed by FIFA at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence. We have constructed a gym and a conference facility. We are in the process of getting the gym equipment from FIFA as well,” she said.
Mawudeku said the centre would continue to improve its facilities to support player preparation and development.
“Basically, the facilities we have here include accommodation and training facilities, conference rooms, and very soon, the gym will also be ready,” she added.
