DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM-based AGRICOM Africa Limited has continued to shine on the international stage after receiving a special award for accelerating business growth at a global conference organised by Mahindra & Mahindra in Mumbai, India.
Speaking shortly after receiving the award, Agricom Founder and Managing Director, Ms Angelina Ngalula, said the recognition was a testament to Agricom Africa’s remarkable journey and the confidence that Mahindra Group has placed in the company for more than 17 years.
Ms Ngalula said the award represents more than a business success story, describing it as a reflection of the confidence shown by a major international company in an African woman entrepreneur who had big dreams but lacked capital and extensive experience in the tractor business.
She said her journey began in 2009 when she made her first visit to India, shortly after registering Agricom Africa Limited.
At the time, she said, she was still new to the business world, had no experience in selling tractors and lacked the financial capacity to purchase even 10 tractors.
“However, Mahindra Group, which at the time had annual sales of about six billion US dollars, decided to believe in my dream and allowed me to become the sole distributor of Swaraj Tractors products in Tanzania,” she said.

According to Ms Ngalula, what she possessed at the time was an idea, determination, courage and a strong belief in the potential of Africa’s agricultural sector.
Seventeen years later, she said, Mahindra Group has continued to grow, recording sales of approximately 23 billion US dollars in the 2026 financial year, while Agricom Africa has also expanded to become one of the leading companies in Tanzania’s agricultural sector and beyond the country’s borders.
Ms Ngalula said what touches her most is not merely Mahindra’s financial growth, but the company’s continued belief in her vision of building better and sustainable systems for agricultural development across Africa.
She said being invited to Mumbai and given an opportunity to share Agricom Africa’s growth journey before Mahindra and Swaraj distributors from different countries was a great honour and a demonstration of the value of the confidence Mahindra placed in her from the beginning.
“This award is the result of 17 years of partnership, trust and the growth of a good seed planted by Mahindra. It is proof that big dreams can come true when they are given an opportunity to take root and grow,” Ms Ngalula said.
The global conference brought together distributors of Mahindra and Swaraj products from different parts of the world to exchange experiences, learn new business strategies and strengthen the contribution of the agricultural sector to economic development.
The recognition marks another milestone for Agricom Africa, highlighting the growing role of African businesses and women entrepreneurs in driving agricultural transformation and expanding access to modern farming technologies.
Through its partnership with Mahindra and Swaraj, Agricom Africa has continued to promote agricultural mechanisation, supporting efforts to improve productivity and strengthen the sector’s contribution to economic growth.
