FORT PORTAL — The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba has contributed Shs100 million towards the forthcoming coronation of the new Omukama of Tooro.
Gen Muhoozi announced the contribution on Saturday, saying his Military Assistant, Col Muwumba, delivered the money to the Omusuuga of Tooro on his behalf.
“Today my Military Assistant, Colonel Muwumba, delivered 100 million shillings on my behalf to the Omusuuga of Tooro. This is our humble contribution to the coronation of the new king. God bless Tooro,” Gen Muhoozi said in a post on X.
Col Muwumba was accompanied by Omutume and Kazo County MP Hon. Daudi Kabanda during the handover.
The contribution comes ahead of the coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I, who is set to be enthroned as the new Omukama of Tooro on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Karuziika Palace in Fort Portal.
The coronation follows the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV on August 27, 2026.
The upcoming ceremony is expected to bring together members of the royal family, cultural leaders, government officials and other invited guests as Tooro formally welcomes its new king.
Gen Muhoozi’s contribution is among the support being extended towards preparations for the historic cultural ceremony.
