THE RULING National Democratic Congress (NDC) surprisingly snubbed the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the latter’s national executives election today.
According to reports, the NDC accepted the NPPs invitation to attend and also give a solidarity message at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital.
On the day of the programme, the NDCs representatives reportedly visited the election venue as promised but they left even before the event started, thereby creating a drama.
Information from close sources in the NDC indicated that the party’s representative angrily left the programme venue because they bitterly complained of a late start of the event.
Because of the early departure, the NDCs representatives could not read their solidarity message to the NPP, which was the main reason of attending the party programme.
The Master of Ceremonies for the event, Anthony Karbo, confirmed to the NPP delegates that indeed the NDCs representatives left the programme before it started.
He thanked the ruling political party for even accepting the NPPs invitation, but he was quick to state that it was unfortunate that the NDC could not sit through the event.
According to him, he was expecting the NDC members to have displayed some level of patience and sat through the programme but unfortunately it didn’t happen that way.
Karbo disclosed that “First of all, on behalf of the NPP, we thank the NDC for accepting our invitation to attend this programme at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
“But It’s unfortunate that their representatives couldn’t sit through the programme. We have information that they left the event venue before the programme even commenced”.
Meanwhile, a representative of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) who read the party’s solidarity message to the NPP, condemned the NDC for abandoning the event midstream.
He said even though the event delayed, he was expecting the NDCs representatives to exercise some patience and wait just like the representatives of other political parties had done.
According to him, the NDCs decision to leave the event venue clearly had dented their image.
