Sudanese army says it has taken control of 11 areas in north Kordofan

The Sudanese army said on Thursday that it had taken control of 11 areas in North Kordofan state following fighting with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). In a statement, the army identified the areas as Kajmar, Sharshar, Al-Buniya Al-Kariniya, Al-Qulai’at, Awlad Hazma, Maqouldat, Rishan, Al-Qa’a, Ghabat Al-Laqad, Al-Kukaiti, and the area surrounding Al-Mazroub. The military said the advances followed intense fighting with the RSF and claimed to have inflicted significant losses on the paramilitary force before pursuing its fighters westward toward the outskirts of Darfur.
