X Users Are Letting Grok Bot Make Their Calls. Should You Try It?

Many of us have a backlog of small tasks piling up one after another: an inbox that never empties, a bill we have yet to dispute, or personal details in databases we never signed up for. So, it’s easy to see why the promise of AI agents taking these chores off our hands is gaining attention.

And it seems like every other day tech companies are rolling out one new agent after another. Last month, OpenAI released Dot only a few days after we got a glimpse of Meta's Muse, Grokbot, and more recently, Claude Duet. Each AI agent promises, in different ways, to take work off people's hands.

But what happens when people actually put these agents to work?

On X, some users have begun sharing their experiences with Grokbot, from managing correspondence and negotiating bills to removing personal information from unwanted databases.

Their posts offer a glimpse of what people are willing to hand over to AI, even as questions remain about how safely these systems handle personal information. If you’re wondering how to use Grokbot on X yourself, here’s what you need to know.

How to Stop Grok From Training on Your X Posts and ChatsIf you use Grok on X, your posts and conversations may be used to train xAI’s models. Here’s how to opt out in a few steps.

What is Grokbot?

Grok Bot is an AI agent by xAI that executes multi-step tasks and workflows autonomously. Unlike Grok chatbots that only provide text responses, it is designed to use connected tools, browse websites, and manage data to complete work on behalf of the user.

What can you use Grokbot for?

Here are a couple of ways we found that people on X are using Grokbot:

/1. A personal secretary that never clocks out

Peter St Onge, a former professor, had been using Grokbot for just two days when he shared how much of his daily correspondence he had handed over to it.

"It checks email, DMs, mentions, and LinkedIn every hour. It flags anything interesting, drafts replies, and tosses the other 99%," he wrote on X.

His experience points to one possible use for professionals and small business owners who spend considerable time sorting through messages before getting to the work that needs their attention.

/2. Getting your number off unwanted databases

Others are using the agent to deal with unwanted attention altogether.

An X user who goes by Lunar described how Grokbot could help remove personal information from people-search websites, a process that would otherwise require visiting individual sites and submitting removal requests.

"It finds your number on people-search sites, files every opt-out, clicks the confirmation emails and checks again every month," Lunar wrote.

/3. Making phone calls on your behalf

Following Elon Musk's announcement that the agent could call people and businesses, make requests on users' behalf and summarise conversations, X user Scotty Beam shared what he had managed to get done without picking up the phone himself.

The agent reportedly negotiated a $35 monthly discount on his internet bill, cancelled a gym membership, booked a barber appointment and arranged a dinner date.

"Total: almost 2 hours on the phone today. I spent 0 of them," he wrote.

How much does Grokbot cost?

On the company's site, access to the agent starts at $30 a month for premium users, with higher subscription tiers priced at $100 for Super and $200 for Ultra.
