PHOTOS: Gachagua Hosts Sifuna And Linda Mwananchi Leaders At Wamunyoro Hours After Returning From US

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has hosted a delegation from the Linda Mwananchi movement at his Wamunyoro residence in Nyeri. The meeting came just hours after he quietly returned to Kenya from an extended stay in the United States.

In a Facebook post on October 20 Gachagua welcomed the visitors as his cousins from Linda Mwananchi. He wrote that great things must happen when they come together. Photos show him warmly greeting several men and women on the compound. Some of them shook hands and others walked in groups along the paved pathway lined with hedges.

Gachagua returned home without a public airport reception after about 50 days abroad. He left the country on August 26 and met Kenyan diaspora communities in cities including Spokane and Portland and Kansas. He also visited Dallas and Boston and spent time at his Texas property. Multiple reports confirmed his low-key arrival at Wamunyoro on the morning of October 20.

Linda Mwananchi is a youth-driven opposition movement associated with leaders such as Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna and Embakasi East MP Babu Owino. It has positioned itself as a key player in the push for opposition unity ahead of the 2027 General Election.

Gachagua leads the Democracy for the Citizens Party. He has previously backed the mobilisation efforts of the group. He has also called for a single opposition candidate to take on President William Ruto.

The meeting is being viewed as an early signal of possible coordination between Mount Kenya political forces and the Linda Mwananchi network. Sources said closed-door talks involving Gachagua and key figures from the movement took place shortly after his arrival.

The engagement comes as opposition players try to consolidate ahead of the next election cycle. Gachagua remained a vocal critic of the current administration throughout his US tour.
