Broda Shaggi Reveals Stray Bullet Injury, Dubai Surgery
Nigerian comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggi, has recounted how a stray bullet struck him in March 2026, leaving him fearing for his life and uncertain whether he would ever return to performing.
The entertainer disclosed his experience in a YouTube video released on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, after months away from the public eye. He revealed that the incident occurred on March 9, shortly after he and his team completed a brand activation assignment around Sango-Ota, Ogun State.
According to Shaggi, he and his team were leaving the location when traffic slowed their movement because of a crowd nearby. He said he suddenly heard a loud bang and later discovered that he was bleeding after touching his hip.
The comedian said he initially struggled to understand what had happened before realising he had been hit by a bullet.
He subsequently lost consciousness and could not remember how he was taken to the hospital. He recalled praying for survival while medical personnel attended to him.
“I didn’t want to die,” he said, describing his fear during the ordeal.
Injury Threatened His Entertainment Career
Shaggi explained that the gunshot injury affected his mobility and raised concerns about whether he would be able to dance, sing and perform as he had done before.
The comedian, known for his energetic skits and physical performances, said the uncertainty surrounding his recovery was emotionally difficult.
He also worried that his prolonged absence from social media and entertainment might cause fans to forget him.
Reflecting on his work schedule before the incident, Shaggi said he had rarely rested since 2018, moving between writing, shooting skits, recording music and travelling for engagements.
During his hospitalisation, he tried to remain productive by writing content and developing a YouTube series. However, he admitted that watching colleagues continue their work sometimes made him emotional because he was unsure whether he would regain his previous abilities.
Comedian Travels To Dubai For Further Surgery
Shaggi disclosed that he underwent surgery in Nigeria but continued to experience difficulties using his injured leg.
After spending about four months dealing with the injury and its complications, he travelled to Dubai for further medical treatment and surgery.
He said the procedure marked a turning point in his recovery, allowing him to begin standing and walking with support.
Providing an update on his condition, the comedian said he could now stand without crutches but still needed them for additional support.
He also expressed gratitude that the bullet struck his hip rather than his head or another vital organ, acknowledging that the outcome could have been worse.
Broda Shaggi Describes Survival As A Second Chance
Reflecting on the experience, Shaggi said the incident had changed his outlook on life and strengthened his gratitude for surviving.
He urged fans to celebrate his return rather than feel sorry for him, promising to release new projects after the lengthy interruption to his career.
The comedian’s account also confirms earlier reports of a shooting incident in March. However, the circumstances surrounding the shooting have not been fully established publicly. In an earlier statement, the Ogun State Police Command said it could not confirm whether the incident occurred within its jurisdiction and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while investigations continued.
