Obuasi authorities inspect ongoing health, education and sanitation projects

AI summary
Authorities and stakeholders in Obuasi in the Ashanti Region have inspected ongoing health, education and sanitation projects across the Obuasi East and Obuasi Municipal assemblies to assess progress and identify areas requiring further development.
The exercise also provided an opportunity for local leaders to highlight infrastructure gaps and call for additional investments to improve living conditions in the area.
Speaking to Adom News, the Adansi Dompoase Krontihene, Nana Kitikyie Apenteng Bosompim II, said Obuasi had only two senior high schools: Christ the King Senior High School and Obuasi Senior High Technical School.
He noted that although Christ the King Senior High School continued to contribute to education in the Obuasi East Municipality, the institution still faced infrastructure challenges that required attention.
Nana Kitikyie Apenteng Bosompim II said government interventions alone might not be sufficient to meet the area’s development needs. He therefore commended AngloGold Ashanti (AGA) Obuasi Mine for extending its development initiatives to the municipality.
He appealed to the government to provide more development projects to address existing gaps and improve the welfare of residents.
The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Faustilove Appiah Kannin, also expressed satisfaction with AngloGold Ashanti’s interventions in education, healthcare and sanitation.
She disclosed that discussions had been held with the company’s Managing Director on plans to construct the road linking Agyemang Gas to Nhyiaso.
According to her, the proposed road project is expected to improve connectivity and support economic activities within the municipality.
The inspection forms part of efforts by local authorities and stakeholders to monitor development interventions and identify priorities for improving infrastructure and public services across the two assemblies.
