ODM MP Now Makes U-turn on Alleged Whipping MPs To Vote Out Casting Live Election, Sends Message

Suna East MP Junet Mohamed has set the record straight following intense speculation surrounding parliamentary voting on election laws.

Speaking in Turkana ODM event, the Minority Leader has strongly refuted claims that lawmakers passed a controversial clause stripping away live transmission and projection of election results at the Bomas of Kenya tallying center.

Addressing the growing public discourse, the lawmaker has clarified that Parliament has not abolished the live broadcast of results, easing anxiety among voters and observers.

The lawmaker has stressed that critics have completely misconstrued the legislative amendments recently considered on the floor of the National Assembly.

According to official statements from the MP, legislators have only approved specific statutory provisions regarding party discipline and political accountability.

Specifically, the leader has revealed that Parliament has passed a clause empowering citizens to recall elected representatives who defect from their sponsoring political parties before their terms end.

The MP has maintained that this measure has aimed strictly at upholding party loyalty and restoring democratic power to voters rather than altering election tallying protocols.

Opposition members and civil society actors have actively monitored parliamentary deliberations, emphasizing the paramount importance of safeguarding transparency in the country’s electoral process.

By addressing these allegations, the Suna East legislator has sought to reassure the public that democratic safeguards remain firm.

Legal experts and election stakeholders have consistently insisted that any attempt to dismantle real-time tallying would face immediate constitutional hurdles in court.

As parliamentary debates continue to draw close public scrutiny nationwide, this timely clarification has reshaped the national conversation on electoral reforms and legislative accountability ahead of upcoming election cycles.
