The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) has launched an investigation into a video circulating on social media involving a police officer and a foreign tourist.
In a brief statement on Sunday, police said the video purportedly shows an officer manning a roadblock allegedly negotiating with a tourist for an iPhone instead of issuing a fine for an alleged traffic offence.
“Reference is made to a video circulating on social media platforms purportedly showing a police officer manning a roadblock allegedly negotiating with a tourist for an iPhone instead of a fine for an alleged traffic offence,” reads the statement.
“The ZRP has taken note of the video and has commenced investigations to establish the authenticity and circumstances surrounding the incident.
“The investigations are also aimed at identifying the police officer involved and establishing the date, time and location of the alleged incident.”
