The Ogun State Police Command has arrested three secondary school students, aged 12, 18 and 18, over a suspected cult initiation in Owode-Yewa, following intelligence about a planned gathering known as “Kito Day”.

The planned activity reportedly involved students from different secondary schools in the area.

Police said the operation followed information received on October 22, 2026, prompting the Divisional Police Officer in Owode-Yewa to deploy detectives alongside members of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria to the scene.

The team arrested the three suspects and recovered an English axe, two knives, a short cutlass, a rubber toy gun and a school bag.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Babaseyi Oluseyi, confirmed the arrests, adding that the case would be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Friday, October 23, for further investigation and possible prosecution.
