Highlanders FC rocked by Mahachi, Tshuma suspensions

HIGHLANDERS will be without the gifted duo of Kudakwashe Mahachi and Mongameli Tshuma when they travel to Gibbo Stadium for a Castle Lager Premier Soccer League clash against Triangle United on Saturday.

The two Bosso stars are among 10 players suspended for Matchday 28, according to the league’s latest suspension list.

Mahachi and Tshuma’s absence is a significant blow for Highlanders, who will have to navigate the tricky away assignment without two players capable of unlocking defences with their pace, skill and individual brilliance.

Mahachi, one of the more experienced players in the Highlanders squad, brings creativity and attacking flair, while Tshuma has also been an important option in Bosso’s forward play.

Their suspensions mean Highlanders coach Benjani Mwaruwari will be forced to reshuffle his attacking options as Bosso look to collect maximum points against Triangle.

The match comes at an important stage of the season, with every point carrying increasing significance as teams jostle for position on the league table.

Highlanders will, however, take heart from the quality available in their squad and will expect the likes of Andrew Mbeba, Rainsome Pavari and Aaron “Arusha” Ngwenya to step up and help the Bulawayo giants negotiate the demanding trip.

Triangle, meanwhile, will be eager to make home advantage count at Gibbo Stadium and compound Highlanders’ problems.

The suspension list also includes Dynamos’ Abel Gwatidzo, Charles Teguru of Manica Diamonds, Triangle’s Aaron Mackie Dzanai, Scottland’s Mthokozisi Msebe, FC Hunters’ Tadiwanashe Huni and Vusumuzi Ngwenya, Hardrock’s Munashe Bamala and TelOne’s Johannes Mabwe.

But for Bosso, the spotlight will firmly be on how they cope without the Mahachi, Tshuma acombination.

Saturday’s encounter could therefore provide an opportunity for Highlanders’ fringe players to prove their worth as the Bulawayo giants seek to keep their campaign on course.-@FungaiMuderere
