Niger Delta Youth Leader Appeals To Pondi, Tompolo Over Ayakoromo

A youth leader in the Niger Delta, Comrade Lokiri Abraham Ogidi, has appealed to High Chief Kestin Pondi and Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, to intervene in the challenges facing Ayakoromo community.

Ogidi, who is the Leader of Ayakoromo Youth Leaders in Diaspora, made the appeal in a statement while commending Pondi and Tompolo for their contributions to peace, leadership and service to the people of the Niger Delta.

He described Pondi as a community-oriented leader, citing his accessibility, goodwill and willingness to support causes affecting people in the region.

Ogidi said leadership should remain connected to the grassroots and be measured by the lives touched and communities supported.

“The people who have benefited from High Chief Kestin Pondi’s goodwill therefore have every reason to appreciate his continued concern for the people and the region,” he stated.

He also acknowledged Tompolo as an important stakeholder in issues relating to peace, stability and development in the Niger Delta.

According to Ogidi, sustainable development could not be achieved without peace, stressing that conflict, insecurity and division could undermine the ability of communities to realise their potential.

“Peace remains fundamental to sustainable development. Communities cannot fully realise their potential where conflict, insecurity and division persist,” he said.

Against this background, the youth leader appealed to Pondi and Tompolo to extend their goodwill to Ayakoromo and support efforts to address issues affecting the riverine community.

“The people of Ayakoromo respectfully appeal to these two distinguished Niger Delta leaders to continue extending their goodwill towards the community,” he stated.

Ogidi said the development needs of Ayakoromo should not be seen as the responsibility of government alone, noting that stakeholders, community leaders and sons and daughters of the region also had roles to play.

He urged Pondi and Tompolo to consider supporting and intervening, where possible, in matters affecting the community.

“We therefore respectfully appeal to High Chief Kestin Pondi and Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) to consider supporting and intervening, where possible, in the issues currently affecting Ayakoromo,” Ogidi said.

He said their goodwill, advocacy and influence could help draw greater attention to the community’s development needs and provide renewed hope for its people.

Ogidi expressed appreciation for acts of kindness, support and concern extended to the community, saying meaningful interventions would remain part of Ayakoromo’s collective history.

“Leadership is ultimately remembered by the lives it touches and the communities it helps to uplift,” he stated.

He further encouraged the two Niger Delta stakeholders to continue using their influence to promote peace, unity and the wellbeing of the people.

“As the Niger Delta continues to pursue sustainable peace, development and prosperity, we commend High Chief Kestin Pondi and Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) for their contributions to the region and respectfully encourage them to continue using their influence in ways that promote peace, unity and the wellbeing of the people,” Ogidi said.
