Mastermind allegedly paid R10 million to organise AKA’s murder

The central claim is that an unidentified mastermind allegedly paid R10 million to organise the murder of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes, while the four alleged gunmen reportedly received R40,000 each. The reported payment chain, including an intermediary and a recruiter allegedly paid R800,000, has drawn attention to the disparity between the sums involved and the amounts said to have reached the shooters. The allegations are being discussed in the ongoing murder trial.

What the post does not settle is who the alleged mastermind is, since the post does not name the person or explain how the payment was allegedly arranged. The post also does not say whether the payments have been confirmed by evidence presented in court. Those details matter because they would establish the strength of the allegations. Without them, the claims remain allegations discussed in the trial, and the identity of the alleged mastermind must be distinguished from facts finally established by the court.

People reacting to the post focused on the disparity between the R10 million allegedly paid to organise the killing and the R40,000 reportedly received by each of the four alleged gunmen, with some saying the gap showed how little the shooters were paid for the risk they took. Some said the trial should establish who the mastermind was, while others said the payments had not been proven in court.

What has not been settled is whether the court will hear evidence identifying the alleged mastermind or whether the payments will be confirmed. The allegations are being discussed in the ongoing murder trial, but the post does not establish what the court has accepted as fact. The public is waiting for the trial to continue, because the claims about the payments remain allegations that must be distinguished from facts finally established by the court.
