Mandla Ncikazi Returns to Golden Arrows in ‘Home Sweet Home’ Coaching Move

Mandla Ncikazi Returns to Golden Arrows After Orlando Pirates Exit

Mandla Ncikazi has officially begun a new chapter in his coaching career after being unveiled as the new head coach of Golden Arrows, marking his return to the Durban-based club where he previously enjoyed considerable success.

The experienced South African tactician joins Abafana Bes’thende following his departure from Orlando Pirates, where he spent several seasons as part of the Buccaneers’ technical team. His exit comes just days before the highly anticipated Soweto Derby, making the timing particularly significant for Pirates as they prepare for one of the biggest fixtures on the South African football calendar.

Ncikazi is no stranger to Golden Arrows, having previously established himself as one of the club’s respected coaches. During the 2020/21 campaign, he guided the team to an impressive fourth-place finish in the league, demonstrating his ability to compete against some of the strongest sides in the country. That achievement remains an important milestone in the club’s recent history.

His return is expected to bring valuable experience and familiarity to Golden Arrows as they seek greater consistency in the Betway Premiership. Having worked with the club before, Ncikazi understands its footballing culture and expectations, potentially giving him an advantage as he begins his second spell in charge.

At Orlando Pirates, Ncikazi contributed to a successful period for the Soweto giants, working alongside different head coaches and helping the team compete in domestic competitions and continental tournaments. His departure represents a change within the technical structure as Pirates continue their campaign.

For Golden Arrows, the appointment presents an opportunity to rebuild momentum under a coach who has already demonstrated his capabilities at the club. Supporters will hope his return can improve performances, strengthen the team’s competitiveness and deliver better results.

Ncikazi now faces the challenge of translating his experience into success once again. His immediate priority will be assessing the squad, establishing his tactical approach and ensuring Golden Arrows remain competitive for the remainder of the season.
