President Bola Tinubu has commended Vice President Kashim Shettima for his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), steadfast support for his administration and “unwavering dedication” to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu, in a statement issued on Tuesday to mark Shettima’s 60th birthday on September 2, described the Vice President as a trusted partner whose loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration.
The President said Shettima was more than a political ally and colleague, describing him as “my brother and partner in steering the ship of our state”.
“Today, I warmly congratulate Vice President Kashim Shettima, my brother and partner in steering the ship of our state, on his 60th birthday on September 2,” Tinubu said.
“I acknowledge, in particular, Vice-President Shettima’s loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), support for the administration and his unwavering dedication to the success of the Renewed Hope Agenda.”
The President thanked Shettima for his steadfast partnership as the administration works to fulfil its promises to Nigerians.
“As a trusted partner, his loyalty, wisdom and sense of duty have remained invaluable to the administration,” Tinubu said.
“I must thank Vice President Shettima for his steadfast support and partnership as we continue to join hands in delivering the promises of Renewed Hope to Nigerians.”
Tinubu said he was confident that the partnership between the two leaders would continue to yield progress towards building the Nigeria of their dreams.
“I am confident that, working together, we will continue to make meaningful progress in building the Nigeria of our dreams,” he said.
The President also described the Vice President as a patriot whose life had been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes.
“Kashim is not just a trusted ally or a valued colleague, but also a patriot whose life has been defined by service, commitment and sacrifice for worthy causes,” Tinubu said.
He recalled Shettima’s distinguished career in banking and his record of service to Borno State and Nigeria, praising his commitment to national progress and unity.
Tinubu particularly commended the Vice President for his years of public service, first as Governor of Borno State and now as Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“In both capacities, Kashim has demonstrated courage, diligence, compassion and an abiding commitment to improving the lives of the people,” the President said.
The President also highlighted Shettima’s role as Chairman of the National Economic Council (NEC), saying he had provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policies and strengthening collaboration between the Federal Government and sub-national governments.
“As Chairman of the National Economic Council, Shettima has provided purposeful leadership in coordinating economic policy and fostering collaboration between the Federal Government and the sub-nationals,” Tinubu said.
He added that Shettima’s respect for constitutional governance, democratic institutions, dialogue and consultation had contributed to strengthening good governance in the country.
Tinubu prayed for Allah’s continued guidance, protection and good health for the Vice President as he marks his Diamond Jubilee.
“On behalf of the Federal Government, I again congratulate Vice President Shettima on this milestone, and I pray that Almighty Allah will continue to guide, protect and strengthen him,” the President said.
“May Munificent Allah grant him wisdom and good health, and bless him with many more years of purposeful service to Nigeria.”
