Robin Quaison makes Swedish return with Rinkeby Utd FC

Sweden-Ghana forward Robin Quaison has swapped the UAE for Sweden, joining Rinkeby Utd FC from Gulf United on a free transfer.

The 32-year-old centre-forward completed the move on 1 September 2026, returning to Swedish football after a short spell in the United Arab Emirates. Quaison had joined Gulf United in February after a period without a club, and his departure brings that spell to an end.

Quaison began his senior career in Sweden with AIK, having progressed through the clubs youth system. He also spent time on loan at FC Vasby United before returning to AIK, where he established himself before securing a move abroad.

In July 2014, Quaison left AIK to join Italian club US Palermo for a fee of 2m. He later moved to Germany, signing for Mainz from Palermo in January 2017 in a 2.5m transfer. His time at Palermo included relegation from Italys top flight in the 2016-17 season.

The forward subsequently joined Al-Ettifaq on a free transfer in July 2021 after leaving Mainz. He became a free agent again in July 2024 and signed for Aris Saloniki in September of the same year. After leaving the Greek club in August 2025, he spent several months without a club before moving to Gulf United.

Quaisons international background is also rooted in Sweden. Born in Stockholm and eligible for both Sweden and Ghana, he was part of the Sweden Under-21 side that won the European Under-21 Championship in 2015.

He is a right-footed attacker whose preferred position is centre-forward, and his arrival gives Rinkeby Utd FC an experienced player with a career spanning Sweden, Italy, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Greece and the UAE.

Quaison has now completed his free transfer from Gulf United to Rinkeby Utd FC.
