Gachagua’s DCP holds strategic NEC meeting ahead of 2027 polls

Senior party officials convene in Nairobi to deliberate on key election priorities as the democracy push intensifies

Democracy for the Citizens Party yesterday held a strategic National Executive Council and Central Committee meeting in Nairobi, bringing together senior party officials to deliberate on priorities ahead of the 2027 general election.

DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua, posting from the United States where he is on a diaspora engagement tour, said the session reflected the party’s determination to build a durable political vehicle. “We continue to build a strong party that will stand the test of time and build a better Kenya now and in future,” he said. “Our commitment and resolve to bring back better our country is a top priority. In this journey, every Kenyan matters, every Kenyan is equal in their country and must be treated as such.”

Present at the session were Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala, Secretary General designate John Methu, NEB Chairperson Wanjiru Kago and National Youth Leader Wanjiku Thiga, among other senior officials. The meeting was held in collaboration with the Centre for Multiparty Democracy Kenya, which Gachagua said the party was glad to work alongside on the programme.

The NEC session signals that DCP is moving to translate its growing political momentum into structured electoral organisation with the 2027 general election now firmly in view.
