Asante Kotoko head coach Eric Tinkler has admonished his players to eschew complacency ahead of their opening fixture in the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season.The Porcupine Warriors will lock horns with Debibi United this weekend in what promises to be a tricky fixture.Speaking to AKSC Media in a pre-match interview, Tinker warned that his players must not go into the match with complacency, just because their opponent is a newly-promoted side.Yeah, you don't win leagues by beating Hearts of Oak and Medeama. You win leagues because you're beating teams at the bottom of the log. You know, so the complacency cannot be permitted in those games. You know, the players must understand the importance of playing against the lower league teams and how important it is to collect the three points.Complacency, as I said, that's a big problem, you know. But you've got to make them aware that, you know, a club like Asante Kotoko, home and away, should be winning football matches, Eric Tinkler stressed.The opening fixture between Debibi United and Asante Kotoko is scheduled for Sunday, September 6.The match will kick off at 3 pm at the Berekum Golden City Park.
