India Fashion Night will inaugurate Egypt Fashion Week on November 12, 2026, bringing together Indian and Egyptian designers, fashion professionals and cultural performers to promote collaboration between the two countries’ fashion and textile industries, India’s Ambassador to Egypt Suresh K. Reddy announced.
The event will be held at India House in Cairo and feature collections by leading Indian fashion designers travelling to Egypt for the occasion, alongside runway shows featuring Egyptian artists and models wearing Indian outfits.
Speaking at a press conference at the Embassy of India in Cairo, Reddy said the event aims to celebrate the longstanding cultural ties between India and Egypt through fashion, textiles and performing arts, while creating opportunities for cooperation among designers, creative industries and women entrepreneurs in both countries.
The programme will also feature cultural performances organised by the Maulana Azad Centre for Indian Culture (MACIC) in Cairo, under the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).
The event is being organised by the Embassy of India in association with the Egyptian Fashion & Design Council (EFDC) and the BRICS Business Women Alliance, with support from India’s Ministry of Textiles. Gulf Air is the airline partner, while Cadillac is also supporting the event.
Reddy highlighted fashion’s potential as a platform for cultural and economic exchange, noting that India and Egypt share historical links reflected in their traditions of art, craftsmanship and textiles.
He added that India Fashion Night seeks to connect designers, manufacturers and artisans from both countries, encouraging trade, skills exchange and new business partnerships.
As part of these efforts, the EFDC is exploring opportunities to introduce Egyptian fashion to the Indian market, paving the way for a two-way exchange of design, expertise and craftsmanship.
India’s fashion and apparel industry also offers significant commercial opportunities. The country’s apparel market, which forms the core of its fashion industry, was estimated at approximately $96bn in 2025 and is projected to reach around $146bn by 2029.
The sector’s growth is supported by a young population, rising consumer demand in major cities and smaller markets, and strong demand for festive and occasion wear.
Beyond its commercial dimension, the event is expected to highlight fashion’s role in the creative economy, particularly in supporting employment, small businesses and artisans, while providing young designers and women entrepreneurs with opportunities to access new markets.
The evening is expected to bring together Egyptian officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives of the fashion and business communities, and media professionals.
