Julius Agwu in emotional video says friends deserted him during his health crisis
Veteran comedian and singer, Julius Agwu recently spoke out anbout how his friends annd many colleagues abandoned him when he had a health challenge.
He said it was a very difficult time for him ans he lost friends and relationships during the period following his health crisis.
Speaking on the Beer Parlour Talk podcast, Agwu said his friends deserted him after he lost almost everything, adding, “My friends deserted me… they stopped talking to me.”
Agwu underwent brain surgery in 2015 after doctors reportedly discovered three tumours in his brain. One of the tumours was said to be about the size of a golf ball.
The comedian was discussing the effects of his health battle on his body, career and personal life when the host asked if the brain condition or surgery had affected other aspects of his health, including his sexual function.
Agwu responded, “After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work.”
Agwu also reflected on his influence on Nigeria’s comedy industry, particularly his role in popularising the combination of music and comedy.
“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.
The conversation later became emotional as Agwu broke down in tears while reflecting on his career, relationships and the people he felt abandoned him during his difficult period.
“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
