Speaking in Blantyre following the donation, NICO Holdings Head of Risk, Thokozani Phokoso, said the support reflects how highly the company values the crucial role played by the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA), adding that NICO Group, as a major player in the sector, felt it was important to assist an institution whose objectives align closely with its own values of promoting transparency, risk management, good governance and ethical practices.
“As NICO Group we consider the conference as a great platform where members taking part benefit a lot which in the end helps to add value to the nation in terms governance, risk and transparency hence believe that this year’s event will bring another remarkable outcome,” Phokoso said.
Reacting to the donation, Institute of Internal Auditors Chief Executive Officer Albert Dambula applauded NICO Group for its generous support, saying it would go a long way in cushioning the budget for the upcoming conference and help make it one of the institute’s most successful events to date.
Dambula added that this year’s conference, held under the theme “The Currency of Trust: Governance as a Strategy, Assurance as a Proof,” would focus largely on discussions aimed at helping stakeholders build confidence in companies through visibly functioning governance institutions.
“The internal auditors are already doing a commendable job, so our main key objectives for these conferences is to make sure that governance processes, risk management and internal control processes are working effectively towards the achievement of the organization goal,” Dambula said.
