JOHANNESBURG - It was a brief appearance for Vusimuzi Matlala and his co-accused in Pretoria's regional court on Tuesday.
The accused face fraud and corruption charges linked to the infamous R228 million SAPS tender awarded to Matlala’s company.
The alleged criminal kingpin has officially been rejoined to the case as accused one after he abandoned his plea deal with the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).

Accused number ten, Major General Busisiwe Temba, was not in the dock, resulting in a warrant of arrest being issued by the magistrate, which will be held until the next court appearance.
Meanwhile, IDAC is awaiting guidance from a high-level review committee assessing the overall merits of the docket.
The matter has been postponed to 17 November for the outcomes of the review committee and a decision by the National Director of Public Prosecutions.
