The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), FCT chapter, has mourned the sudden death of veteran journalist and Publisher of the Eagle Online, Mr. Dotun Oladipo, describing his passing at 56 as a major loss to the Nigerian media industry.
In a statement signed by the chairman, Comrade Grace Ike, the FCT-NUT said it received the news with shock and sadness, describing Oladipo’s death as painful and unfortunate.
The Council said Oladipo was a committed journalist, media entrepreneur and respected colleague who made significant contributions to the growth of journalism, particularly digital media, in Nigeria.
According to the statement, Oladipo distinguished himself through dedication, professionalism and a strong commitment to advancing the journalism profession. His death, it added, has created a huge vacuum in the Nigerian media space.
“The NUJ FCT Council is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Dotun Oladipo, a committed journalist, media entrepreneur, and respected colleague whose contributions to journalism, especially digital media, will remain memorable,” Ike said.
The Council extended condolences to Oladipo’s wife, children, family, colleagues at The Eagle Online and the wider Nigerian media community.
