A campaign group, Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN), has inaugurated a 270-man advocacy team to campaign for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
The advocacy group consisted of 27-members of the executive, a five-man committee in each of the local governments, ten per 203 political wards, and in the voting units in the state.
The Director General of the SGN, Hon Dayo Awude, said the advocacy group would mobilise support for the reelection of President Tinubu and other APC candidates in the state.
Awude said the advocacy group became necessary because some voters are doubting the performance of President Tinubu in the state and other parts of the country. He said members of the committee would convince the electorate in their respective political wards and units.
According to him, there are four major road projects ongoing in different parts of Ondo State, including Akure-Akure, Ondo-Ore, Owo-Benin dualisation, and coastal roads passing through the Ondo South Senatorial part of the state.
Also, he said the removal of fuel subsidy by President Tinubu has put more money in the coffers of the state governments. He said the Ondo State government got #28 billion as federal allocation in the month of June, contrary to what the state got before the subsidy removal.
Awude said the cost of food has reduced drastically, making it possible for many families to afford staple foods including rice and beans. Besides, he said there is a reduction in school dropout among students because of the loan made available to students.
The former commissioner advised the newly inaugurated advocacy group to direct their political energy towards mobilisation, reconciliation and expansion of the President’s support base. He said every tendency within the APC that can bring votes should be accommodated, saying every genuine Tinubu supporter should be encouraged.
Awude said: “To mobilise the people of Ondo State for the overwhelming re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the election of APC candidates into the National and State Assemblies is our mandate.
“For the avoidance of doubt, we are equally committed to the election of our National Assembly candidates across the three Senatorial Districts of Ondo State.
These candidates, together with our candidates for the Ondo State House of Assembly, constitute the APC team whose election we are committed to working for across the State.”
Awude said the SGN members are prepared to work with every genuine supporter of President Tinubu and APC candidates in the next election. He said they should invite the entire electorate in the state to give the contestants overwhelming support and votes.
