GFA commits GHS1.5m to develop young referees through Catch Them Young programme

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has committed GH1.5 million towards the development of young referees through its Catch Them Young Refereeing Programme.The initiative forms part of the GFAs broader Colts football development strategy and is aimed at identifying and nurturing refereeing talent from an early age.Under the programme, the GFA will invest GH300,000 annually in educational support and allowances for young referees.The association will also spend a further GH270,000 annually on uniforms and logistics for the programme.The GFA says the initiative is designed to create a sustainable pipeline of refereeing talent while providing young people with opportunities to develop both on and off the field.The Catch Them Young programme forms part of the associations efforts to ensure that grassroots football development goes beyond players and also produces the next generation of football officials.
