Caleb Amisi predicts political change as ruto faces 2027 election test

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has expressed confidence that Kenyans will usher in a new political era after the August 10, 2027, General Election, predicting that President William Ruto could leave office following the vote.

The legislator has been vocal in his criticism of the Kenya Kwanza administration and has urged opposition leaders to unite around a credible candidate capable of challenging Ruto at the ballot box.

Amisi’s remarks reflect the growing political contest ahead of the next general election, with opposition figures debating the best strategy to defeat the incumbent president.

In an August 4, 2026, report by The Standard, Amisi argued that Kenyans were seeking economic transformation rather than a return to familiar political leadership. He highlighted economic recovery, the cost of living and the fight against corruption as key issues that should shape the next administration.

The MP has also expressed support for younger leaders, including Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna, whom he considers capable of attracting voters seeking political change.

However, the opposition still faces the challenge of agreeing on a presidential candidate and developing a common agenda.

Whether Ruto will secure another term or hand over power to a new president will ultimately depend on the outcome of the election and the official results.

For now, Amisi’s prediction adds to the increasingly heated political debate ahead of the 2027 polls.
