Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a political support movement backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid, has set a target of mobilising 10,000 supporters from the 19 Northern states and the Federal Capital Territory for the planned flag-off of his 2027 campaign in Kaduna State.
The planned mobilisation comes as political actors and support groups begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general election, with Northern Nigeria expected to remain a key battleground in the contest for presidential votes.
The Head of Media Relations of Arewa for Asiwaju, Edwin Olofu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.
According to him, the movement was strengthening its structures across Northern Nigeria to achieve the targeted turnout.
“Our target of 10,000 supporters is a demonstration of our commitment to building a formidable grassroots mobilisation network for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election campaign,” Abubakar said.
He explained that the mobilisation drive would be coordinated through the movement’s national leadership, state coordinators and grassroots structures to ensure participation from all 19 Northern states and the FCT.
“We are engaging our coordinators and support base at the state, local government and community levels to ensure that our mobilisation efforts translate into effective participation at the flag-off,” he said.
Abubakar described the planned event as an opportunity for supporters of the President, political stakeholders and allied movements to demonstrate their commitment to Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
According to him, the gathering would also strengthen cooperation among supporters and provide a platform for A4A members to reaffirm their support for the President’s political agenda.
He urged state coordinators, local mobilisation teams and members of the movement to intensify grassroots engagement and maintain effective communication ahead of the event.
“We expect every coordinator and member to take responsibility for mobilising supporters within their areas. Achieving this target will require discipline, effective coordination and sustained engagement with our grassroots supporters,” Abubakar said.
He also called on members to ensure that all mobilisation activities were conducted peacefully and responsibly, stressing that orderly participation would be essential to the success of the planned flag-off.
