JOHANNESBURG - R60,000 a month.

That is the allowance Claudette Masethe, Vusimuzi Cat Matlala’s sister, as well as the former director of his company, Medicare24 Tshwane District, receives from her boyfriend every month.

The 31-year-old uses this money to maintain her household and support herself and her seven-year-old child.

These details emerged in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Wednesday, where she appeared alongside Matlala, Matlala’s wife Tsakane and Given Makofane on charges linked to a fraudulent lease agreement.

As her affidavit was read out in court, the court got a glimpse of Masethe's lifestyle.

She has a home in Johannesburg’s most refined luxury development nestled in the heart of Hyde Park.

While unemployed, she is a part-time law student currently in her second year of a Diploma in Law.

In November 2025, during his appearance before the Ad Hoc Committee, Matlala revealed that Masethe was the one whom he instructed to withdraw R300,000 in cash from an FNB branch.

Matlala said he then paid this money to former police minister Bheki Cele.

According to Matlala, Cele wanted R1-million in bribe money from him but instead made two payments totalling half a million.

Matlala said the R300,000 cash bribe for Cele was carried inside a Woolworths shopping bag.

Cele denied business links to Matlala.

Masethe’s name was also tied to Mamelodi Sundowns and Bafana Bafana defender Grant Kekana.

Matlala said they were in a relationship but have since broken up.

Tsakane, Makofane and Masethe were granted R20,000 bail each as the State only opposed bail for Matlala.

The three were arrested on Tuesday by the Gauteng Political Killings Task Team in connection with a fraudulent lease agreement.

They are accused of falsifying bank statements to help Matlala secure a R95,000 lease agreement for a property in Waterkloof.

Matlala allegedly applied for the lease using an eSwatini identity document.

The matter was postponed to 29 October for further investigation.

Matlala is expected to bring an application for bail on 14 and 15 October.
